Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, in collaboration with the Fort Garland Museum and Cultural Center, is inviting children and their families to participate in a Family Archeology Day on June 6th. The event aims to provide a deeper understanding of the history of Fort Garland through the lens of archaeology.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a guided tour of the Fort, during which they will learn about the construction of the buildings. A hands-on activity will allow attendees to make their own adobe bricks, offering a practical insight into the building techniques used in the past.
This educational event promises to be an immersive experience, enabling children and their families to explore the rich history of Fort Garland. By combining archaeology, history, and hands-on activities, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve aims to create a fun and engaging learning environment.
