Starting from July 1, 2025, Mesa Verde National Park and Yucca House National Monument will be implementing Stage I Fire restrictions. This decision is made in response to the current fire conditions and is aimed at preventing wildfires and ensuring the safety of park visitors, staff, and local communities.
Stage I Fire restrictions entail a prohibition on campfires and open flames in both developed and undeveloped areas of the park. Additionally, smoking will only be permitted in enclosed vehicles, buildings, developed recreation sites, or while standing in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
Visitors to these parks are urged to follow these restrictions and understand the potential consequences of causing a wildfire. The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice, with updates provided as conditions change. The National Park Service is committed to public safety and preserving the natural resources in these areas.
