The National Park Service has announced the 2025 Summit Level hike, scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. This free, ranger-led hike will cover a 3-mile stretch along the Summit Level of the Allegheny Portage Railroad. The trail will begin from the head of Inclined Plane No. 6 and will end near the site of the former Summit Hotel in Summitville, close to the head of Inclined Plane 5.
The hike offers a unique opportunity to explore the historical and natural beauty of the Allegheny Portage Railroad.
