The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is inviting the public to participate in a Bio-Blitz at the Glacial Passage Area in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. The event, taking place on Saturday, September 13, is part of the activities celebrating National Public Lands Day. The Bio-Blitz aims to provide a comprehensive snapshot of the biodiversity in the area.
A Bio-Blitz is an intensive, short-term biological survey that records all the living species within a designated area. Groups of scientists, naturalists, and volunteers conduct the survey over a specific period. The event at the Glacial Passage Area will allow participants to explore the region’s unique flora and fauna while contributing to a crucial environmental project.
The National Park Service encourages individuals of all ages and backgrounds to volunteer for this event. Not only will participants have the chance to learn about the diverse ecology of the Glacial Passage Area, but they will also be playing a pivotal role in the preservation and understanding of our national public lands.
