The National Park Service has launched the All-American Road Trip, an initiative as part of the America 250 celebration. The campaign invites visitors to follow the historic 1781 march of American and French forces to Yorktown, a key event in the journey to American independence. The initiative is timed to coincide with the renewed interest in this period of history, sparked by Ken Burns’ documentary, The American Revolution.
The All-American Road Trip follows the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route NHT, a 680-mile trail that stretches from Newport, Rhode Island to Virginia. The route connects communities across several states, and the campaign encourages visitors to explore these areas and learn about their historical significance.
In addition to the road trip itself, the campaign will feature a variety of living history events and educational programs. The National Park Service is also partnering with various organizations to offer a range of travel opportunities along the trail. For more information, visit the National Park Service’s website.
