The National Park Service (NPS) has announced a partnership with Casey Trees to plant 250 native and historic trees across Washington D.C.’s federal parkland. The community-led initiative is part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States, which will take place in 2026.
The campaign aims to enhance the natural beauty and biodiversity of the nation’s capital, while also commemorating the country’s historic milestone. The trees will be planted in strategic locations across the city’s historic federal parkland, contributing to the overall aesthetics and environmental health of these public spaces.
Casey Trees, a D.C.-based nonprofit committed to restoring, enhancing, and protecting the tree canopy of the nation’s capital, will be collaborating with the NPS on this project. The partnership highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to environmental conservation and the preservation of the nation’s history and natural heritage.
