Denali National Park and Preserve has opened up the remaining southern portions of its 1980 park additions for snowmobiling for traditional activities. This decision was made by the park’s Superintendent, who confirmed that there is now sufficient snow cover in these areas.
This decision applies to the areas of the park that are south of the crest of the Alaska Range. The northern areas of the park, which are located north of the crest, were already opened for snowmobiling in December.
This move allows visitors and locals alike to engage in traditional snowmobiling activities throughout the park, promoting outdoor recreation and respect for the park’s natural resources. The decision was made based on current snow conditions, in line with the park’s commitment to preserving the environment and ensuring safe and enjoyable experiences for all visitors.
