Big Thicket National Preserve has announced a range of activities for winter 2026. Visitors are invited to enjoy the cool winter weather and participate in a variety of ranger-led programs. These programs are designed to help visitors explore and understand the preserve’s unique natural and cultural resources.
In addition to the ranger-led programs, Big Thicket will also be hosting a new art exhibit. The exhibit will showcase the beauty of the preserve and is expected to inspire visitors to appreciate the natural world.
There are also volunteer opportunities available for those who wish to contribute to the preservation of Big Thicket. Moreover, the preserve is opening registration for feral hog trapping permits. These permits are part of an effort to manage the population of feral hogs in the area, which can have a detrimental impact on the local ecosystem.
