Obed Wild and Scenic River Seeks Volunteers for Cumberland Trail Workday

February 4, 2026by Ranger Tom0

The National Park Service (NPS) is calling for volunteers to participate in the annual Cumberland Trail workday, scheduled for February 14. The event will be hosted by the Obed Wild and Scenic River, Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning, and Cumberland Trail State Park.

This yearly event is aimed at maintaining and improving the Cumberland Trail, a significant outdoor destination that spans hundreds of miles across the state of Tennessee. The workday will focus on trail maintenance, including clearing downed trees, repairing trail surfaces, and removing invasive plants.

The NPS encourages members of the public to get involved and help preserve this important natural resource. The event provides a unique opportunity for community members to contribute to the ongoing conservation efforts while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Cumberland Trail.
