Lower North Kaibab Trail Reopens March 4 Following Dragon Bravo Fire; Additional Areas Reopen in Kaibab National Forest

February 4, 2026by Ranger Tom0

Grand Canyon National Park is set to reopen a segment of the North Kaibab Trail on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. This reopening marks a significant move towards restoring access to the inner canyon trail, which was affected by the Dragon Bravo Fire. The section of the trail that will be reopened stretches from the Clear Creek Trail Junction to the Ribbon Falls junction and can be accessed from Phantom Ranch.

The North Kaibab Trail has been closed since July 13, 2025, to allow for necessary post-fire assessments, safety planning, and trail maintenance. This closure was essential to ensure the safety of visitors and the preservation of the trail’s integrity following the fire.

The reopening of the trail is a significant step in the recovery process following the Dragon Bravo Fire. It allows visitors to once again enjoy this portion of the Grand Canyon National Park, offering opportunities for hiking and exploration in an area known for its natural beauty. The park encourages visitors to use the trail responsibly and be mindful of any potential hazards that may still exist following the fire.
