Located just a few minutes north of the Schoodic entrance to the park, Acadia East Campground is a quiet, self-serve tent campground near Acadia National Park area that allows you to enjoy a peaceful quiet camping stay in close proximity to Maine’s national park. Whether you’re looking to watch the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, the waves crash at Thunder Hole, or get off the beaten path to the quieter Schoodic District of Acadia National Park, Acadia East Campground puts you close to the action and scenic beauty of coastal Downeast Maine.

What is a self-serve, backcountry-style, commercial tent campground?

Self-serve means that guests book online and simply head to their campsite when they arrive. Our campground is securely video monitored 24/7 to ensure the safety of our guests. We have no staff on-site.

Commercial means that we are a business. We are not a non-profit, or affiliated with any non-profit, or government agency; including the National Park Service. If you’re looking to camp inside Acadia National Park, be sure to book well in advance at recreation.gov.

Backcountry-Style means that our campground is designed for those self-sufficient campers that like a quiet wooded tent camping experience that puts a premium on nature. Unlike traditional campgrounds, we have a main parking area where campers park and hike to their campsite. Campsite distances range from 50-300 feet from the parking area. You cannot drive your vehicle to your campsite.

Tent campground means that we are not able to accommodate RVs, campervans, or campers/travel trailers. Our campsites are designed for tents or hammocks only.
