In the week ahead, schools in the six counties surrounding the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will host a series of interactive storytelling events. This initiative is part of the build-up to the upcoming Haunting in the Hills Festival. The storytellers, a group of talented individuals, will engage students with performances that celebrate culture, history, and creativity.
These events are designed to inspire students and provide an enriching cultural experience. The storytellers will use their skills to bring various narratives to life, fostering a love for storytelling and promoting an appreciation for local and national history. By doing so, the program aims to connect students to the rich cultural heritage of the Big South Fork area.
The storytelling initiative and the Haunting in the Hills Festival are part of the National Park Service’s commitment to education and community engagement. By bringing these events to local schools, the National Park Service hopes to inspire the next generation of park stewards and promote a lifelong love of learning and storytelling.
