October 1, 2025by Ranger Tom0

Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) has reported the collapse of five unoccupied houses in Buxton, North Carolina. The incident was reported to the Seashore authorities in the afternoon, prompting an immediate advisory to the public. Visitors to the area are being urged to maintain a safe distance from the collapsed house sites.

The area surrounding the collapse sites, extending for miles to the south, may contain potentially hazardous debris. As a result, the Seashore is cautioning visitors to exercise extreme care when in the vicinity. An ongoing situation, the authorities have warned that further collapses could occur due to the current ocean conditions.
