Dome Fire Update, September 26, 2026 (morning)

The Dome Fire grew by 240 acres between Friday morning and Saturday morning, September 26, as firefighters continued working to contain the wildfire in Yosemite National Park. Containment increased to 28%.

The fire is moving north and northeast through the footprint of the 2017 Empire Fire and remains within the Yosemite Wilderness. Its spread through previously burned terrain may affect both fire behavior and access for crews.

Firefighters are building and widening containment lines near Bridalveil Creek, Empire Meadows and Horse Ridge. Crews remain focused on strengthening those lines as suppression efforts continue.
