Public Involvement Period Opens on Long-Term North Rim Recovery and Redevelopment Concepts at Grand Canyon National Park

The National Park Service is inviting the public to help shape the North Rim’s long-term recovery and redevelopment at Grand Canyon National Park. A 30-day public involvement period begins Oct. 6, 2026, allowing community members and other stakeholders to weigh in on concepts for the area’s future.

The planning effort follows the 2025 Dragon Bravo Fire and a year of significant recovery work. Recent flash floods have added urgency, highlighting the challenges of rebuilding in the North Rim’s remote and environmentally dynamic setting.

Park officials say future plans must prioritize resilient infrastructure, dependable utilities, public safety and emergency preparedness. Public feedback will help guide a thoughtful approach to restoring services and facilities while improving the North Rim’s ability to withstand future disasters.
