Cape Hatteras National Seashore Announces Partial Parking Lot Closure at Sandy Bay for Transmission System Upgrades
Cape Hatteras National Seashore will temporarily close part of the Sandy Bay parking lot beginning Nov. 2 to accommodate upgrades to the area’s electric transmission system.
The Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative will carry out the work, which is expected to continue through late January 2027. Visitors should plan for reduced parking availability at Sandy Bay during the project.
The partial closure will allow crews to complete the infrastructure improvements while maintaining some public access to the parking area.
