Staff from Redwood National and State Parks, the Yurok Tribe, and the Department of Defense are teaming up this summer to enhance visitor experiences. They will be working on repairing, restoring, and enhancing various facilities throughout the park. This collaboration is part of the Air National Guard’s Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) Program, which offers infrastructure construction training opportunities to Air Force units.
The IRT Program is an initiative by the Department of Defense that provides real-world training opportunities for their service members. The program allows the military to improve public and civil-society infrastructure, while also providing military personnel with invaluable hands-on experience. The collaboration with Redwood National and State Parks and the Yurok Tribe is the latest project under this program.
The project will not only benefit park visitors but also contribute to the preservation of the park’s natural and cultural resources. The collaboration signifies a unique partnership that combines the expertise of park staff, the cultural knowledge of the Yurok Tribe, and the skills and resources of the Department of Defense. This joint effort aims to create a more enriching and enjoyable experience for all park visitors.
