The National Park Service (NPS) has announced the completion of a landslide repair project on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The project, located at milepost 401.5 near Ferrin Knob Tunnel No. 3, was concluded on August 22. This marks an important milestone in the maintenance and accessibility of the historic parkway.
The completed project reopens a 38-mile stretch of road from milepost 393, near US191 in Asheville, North Carolina, to milepost 420, which is two miles south of the Graveyard Fields area. This restored access is expected to enhance visitor experience, allowing easier travel between Asheville and Mount Pisgah.
The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of America’s most scenic byways, is now fully accessible for visitors and locals alike. The completion of the project underscores the NPS’s commitment to preserving and maintaining the country’s natural and historical landmarks for public use and enjoyment.
