Cape Hatteras National Seashore urges visitors to avoid the beach near an unoccupied house collapse in Buxton

Great Smoky Mountains National Park announces selection of park concessioner to operate LeConte Lodge

Visitors to Cape Hatteras National Seashore are being advised to avoid the beach and stay out of the water near Buxton, North Carolina. The warning comes after the collapse of an unoccupied house at 46227 Tower Circle Road in Buxton. The National Park Service has issued this cautionary message to ensure the safety of all park visitors.

The collapsed property, which was not inhabited at the time of the incident, has created potential hazards in the surrounding area. Debris from the house has scattered across the beach and into the water, posing a risk to those who might swim or walk in the vicinity. The exact extent of the debris field is currently unknown, further increasing the potential danger.

The National Park Service is actively working on removing the debris and securing the area. However, until the cleanup is complete and the area is deemed safe, visitors are strongly encouraged to heed the warning and stay away from the specified location. The safety of park visitors remains the primary concern of the National Park Service at Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
