Prescribed Burns Planned for Bald Hills This Fall

Redwood National and State Parks plans to conduct a series of prescribed burns this fall in six areas of the Bald Hills: DA Second Growth, Williams Ridge, Schoolhouse, Wooden Gate, Lower Dolason and South Boundary.

The carefully managed fires are intended to support the health of the Bald Hills landscape by reducing accumulated vegetation and helping maintain its fire-adapted ecosystems. Burning will occur only when weather, fuel moisture and air-quality conditions meet established safety requirements.

Visitors and nearby residents may see smoke or encounter temporary restrictions while operations are underway. Exact timing will depend on favorable conditions, and park officials will monitor each burn to limit risks and impacts.
