Shenandoah National Park moves to cashless fee collection starting July 1, 2025

Great Smoky Mountains National Park announces selection of park concessioner to operate LeConte Lodge

Starting from July 1, 2025, Shenandoah National Park will no longer accept cash payments for entrance and campground fees. The park is transitioning to a fully digital payment system, where only mobile or electronic payments will be accepted. This move is part of a broader trend towards cashless transactions and is expected to streamline the payment process for visitors and staff.

Visitors planning to visit Shenandoah National Park will need to ensure they have access to a suitable form of electronic payment. This could be a mobile payment app or a credit or debit card. It’s important to note that this change applies to all fees within the park, including entrance fees, campground fees, and permitting fees.

In addition to accepting electronic payments at the park, Shenandoah National Park has also made it possible for visitors to pay their fees in advance through the www.recreation.gov website. This advance payment option provides an additional level of convenience for visitors, allowing them to plan and pay for their trip in one go.
