Zion National Park Opens Visitor Access on the Zion Mt. Carmel Highway
Zion National Park will reopen visitor access to the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, restoring travel along the scenic route after a temporary closure.
A section of the highway had been closed since Sept. 30, when a large rock formation collapsed onto the roadway. The rockfall damaged the road and blocked vehicle access while crews assessed conditions and completed necessary work.
The reopening will again allow visitors to use the highway through the park. Travelers should continue to follow posted signs and any instructions from park staff.
