Great Smoky Mountains National Park has announced its annual synchronous firefly viewing event at Elkmont, scheduled to take place from May 29 through June 5, 2025. This unique natural spectacle attracts numerous visitors each year, who come to witness the synchronized flashing patterns of the fireflies.
To manage the influx of visitors and protect the park’s natural resources, a lottery system for vehicle reservations has been implemented. The public can apply for a chance to secure a reservation by entering the lottery via the website recreation.gov.
The lottery will open for entries on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. EDT and will close on Monday, May 5 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. This system is designed to provide all interested parties with an equal opportunity to secure a reservation for this highly sought-after event.
