Fall 2026 Prescribed Fire Burning Notice
The National Park Service has released its Fall 2026 list of locations being considered for prescribed burns at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.
Prescribed fires are carefully planned and monitored to reduce hazardous vegetation, improve ecosystem health and lower the risk of severe wildfires. Burning will occur only when weather, fuel moisture, air quality and staffing conditions meet established safety requirements.
Residents and visitors near potential burn sites may see smoke, flames, fire crews or temporary access restrictions. Because conditions can change quickly, planned burns may be postponed or canceled.
