Most Yellowstone National Park Roads and Entrances Close Nov. 1, 2026, for Winter Season

Most roads in Yellowstone National Park will close to regular vehicle traffic on Nov. 1, 2026, as the park prepares for winter. The West, South and East entrances will also close for the season.

The annual shutdown allows crews to transition park operations for winter and prepare roads for snowmobile and snowcoach travel. That winter travel season is scheduled to begin Dec. 15.

Visitors planning a late-fall trip should check current road and entrance conditions before traveling, as access will be limited after the closures take effect.
