The Sol Duc Falls area in the Olympic National Park is temporarily closed as the park’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team works to recover the body of an 18-year-old man. The man reportedly fell over the 50-foot waterfall on June 8. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of park visitors and to allow the SAR team to conduct their operations effectively.
Late on June 9, a park ranger discovered a body completely submerged and pinned between the first and second falls. The location and circumstances suggest that this may be the body of the visitor who fell over the falls the previous day.
The Olympic National Park SAR team is currently preparing to recover the body. Further updates will be provided as the operation progresses. Until then, visitors are urged to respect the temporary closure and avoid the Sol Duc Falls area.
