Annual Memorial Luminary Tour Returns to Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield Nov. 7
Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield in Republic, Missouri, will host its Annual Memorial Luminary Tour on Saturday, Nov. 7, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The tour honors the 2,539 soldiers who were killed, wounded or reported missing during the Battle of Wilson’s Creek on Aug. 10, 1861. The battle was one of the earliest major Civil War clashes fought west of the Mississippi River.
Through the luminary display, visitors can reflect on the human cost of the battle and remember those affected by the fighting at the historic site.
