National Park Service Announces Weather-Related Closures at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Wright Brothers National Memorial

The National Park Service announced weather-related closures across several Outer Banks sites because of forecast strong winds and coastal impacts. The closures will take effect by noon on Oct. 17.

At Cape Hatteras National Seashore, campgrounds, off-road vehicle ramps and visitor facilities will close. Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Wright Brothers National Memorial will also be closed.

Reopening will begin once conditions improve and park officials complete post-storm safety assessments. Visitors should check National Park Service updates before traveling to the affected sites.
