National Park Service finds no significant environmental impact for North Entrance Road reconstruction project in Yellowstone National Park

The National Park Service has approved an environmental review for reconstructing Yellowstone National Park’s North Entrance Road, finding that the project would have no significant environmental impact.

The project covers the road corridor between Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, and Gardiner, Montana. The NPS signed both a Finding of No Significant Impact and a Wetlands/Floodplains Statement of Findings, clearing an important step toward rebuilding the route.

The decision follows an assessment of potential effects on park resources, including wetlands and floodplains. Reconstruction is intended to restore and improve the key access route linking Yellowstone’s northern entrance with the Mammoth Hot Springs area.
