Southbound George Washington Memorial Parkway Lane Closures Begin Oct. 5

The National Park Service will temporarily close all southbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway in two sections between Tulane Drive and Alexandria Avenue from Monday, Oct. 5, through Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.

The closures will take place during non-rush-hour periods, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Only one segment will be closed at a time.

Southbound drivers will be detoured onto Fort Hunt Road and should allow extra travel time while the restrictions are in effect.
