Dome Fire Update, October 2, 2026 (morning)
Fire crews are making steady progress against the Dome Fire, particularly along its southern edge, where containment lines are being strengthened, according to an Oct. 2 morning update from Yosemite National Park.
On the western side, the fire continues to back slowly down the slope toward established control lines. Firefighters are reinforcing those lines as they work to limit further spread.
Conditions were more challenging in the northeast near Bridalveil Creek, where wind gusts of up to 20 mph and low relative humidity increased fire activity. The blaze also produced spot fires ahead of its main perimeter, raising concerns about potential growth in that area.
