Crews Assessing New Damage Following Second Flash Flood Event at Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park crews are evaluating new damage after a second flash flood swept through Bright Angel Canyon on Wednesday afternoon. The flooding damaged temporary water infrastructure installed as part of recovery efforts following an earlier flood on Aug. 29.

The latest event adds to challenges facing park workers as they repair critical systems in the canyon. Crews are inspecting affected areas to determine the extent of the damage and how it may alter the recovery timeline.
