Denali National Park to Resume Fuels Reduction Project This Fall
Denali National Park and Preserve and the U.S. Wildland Fire Service will resume fuels-reduction work this fall near the park entrance, continuing efforts to lower wildfire risk in a heavily used area.
The project will focus on reducing vegetation and other burnable material around park buildings, critical infrastructure and public-use areas. Removing these fuels can help slow the spread and lessen the intensity of a wildfire, giving firefighters more options to protect people and property.
The work is part of the park’s broader wildfire-preparedness strategy and may be noticeable to visitors and nearby residents while crews are active. Travelers should follow posted notices and any temporary safety restrictions around work zones.
