Mojave National Preserve Welcomes New Superintendent
The National Park Service has named Kevin Schluckebier as the next superintendent of Mojave National Preserve in California.
Schluckebier is scheduled to begin his new role on Oct. 18, 2026. As superintendent, he will oversee the management and protection of the preserve’s desert landscapes, natural resources and visitor services.
The appointment places Schluckebier in charge of one of the National Park Service’s largest desert units, known for its sand dunes, volcanic formations, Joshua tree forests and historic sites.
